Les was a man who was tireless in support of his community. A great loss to Holmes Chapel and his family.

As our Ward Councillor, Les diligently attended our Parish Council meetings to report on what was happening at Cheshire East Council and to answer questions relevant to Holmes Chapel and district. I was so impressed that he always thought before he spoke and actually listened to what Councillors said. To be able to listen to others is an absolute gift not given to many…. If he didn’t know the answer to something, he would say so and would report back. Which he did. A quiet thoughtful and knowledgeable man who is missed by many.

Les was a lovely person to work with. He was hard working, organised, diligent, caring and compassionate. In meetings he always listened to others and gave great insight and support. He'd always do what he said he would! On a personal note, I really appreciated all the support, encouragement and kindness he showed me over the last few years and he will be greatly missed. Here is a link to a more detailed tribute which we wrote for him: https://www.holmeschapelparishcouncil.gov.uk/post/a-tribute-to-les-gilbert
